About Sisternightingale.

Sisternightingale is a locally owned family business founded by wife team, Sarah and Jade Rowland. We provide specialised Palliative and End of Life services to the Illawarra region on the South Coast of NSW.
"We cannot change the outcome, but we can affect the journey".
Ann Richardson

Our service combines Sarah’s 22 years experience working as a Registered Nurse and Jade’s 20+ years experience in Administration & Finance. Our nursing staff are all trusted and experienced nurses, either specialising in Palliative Care, or general home nursing. They are all known personally to us, and this is what sets the service apart. We are working our way to be able to service the whole Illawarra, but currently only have capacity from Thirroul to North Nowra, as we are based in the southern Illawarra area.
Sarah has worked in the Public health sector throughout the Illawarra for many years, as well as Rural & Remote nursing across Australia. She has worked specifically in Palliative Care since 2018, and has an in-depth knowledge of the end of life process in the home, and an ability to relate to, reassure and support clients and their families - with this also being a common theme in feedback from families we have assisted.
Jade leads our administration and creative side, designing our website and resource material, social media and generally makes things easier, so that our nurses can do what we do best!
We believe it is an enormous privilege to be able to provide both practical assistance and also emotional support, in a highly stressful time.

It is our priority to support those wishing to have their end of life care at home, in a familiar environment, surrounded by loved ones. Along with caring for our terminal clients, we focus just as much on “caring for the carer”, offering respite in the home, practical advice, reassurance and education to families, along with liaising with other health professional such as GP’s and the Community Palliative care team.
Our approach is caring and compassionate whilst also being open and honest in our approach to end of life. Too often we dance around the subject of death, and do not have time to mentally prepare for the process and tragically miss opportunities to say the things we need to say. We promise to be frank if needed, and address that elephant in the room, so that all involved can have more quality time during the last days. We are proud LGBTQIA+ and Disability allies and consider our service to be a safe space for all. Please download our brochure here.
